Used Car Buying Process and Procedures 【In New South Wales, Australia】

We will guide you through the process, from purchasing your vehicle to its handover and the change of ownership. We will outline the necessary steps in sequence so you can proceed with confidence.

Used Car Buying Process and Procedures

1. Select the Car to Purchase

Before purchasing, we recommend a test drive and inspection of the actual vehicle at our yard. Please feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns you may have.

Next Step

After you decide on the purchase, we will guide you through the process for “2. Pay the Deposit.”

2. Pay the Deposit

After you decide on the purchase, please transfer the deposit ($500). Once we receive your deposit, we will secure the vehicle for you.

  • After the purchase decision, we will email you the “Deposit Invoice” within 2 business days
  • Payment is accepted by bank transfer only. (Cash or credit cards are not accepted.)
  • At this stage, no documents are required for submission.

Information

Your vehicle reservation will be confirmed on a first-come, first-served basis upon receipt of your deposit.

As popular models may be sold or reserved quickly, we recommend contacting us as soon as possible if you are interested in a particular vehicle.

 

Next Step

After confirming your deposit payment, we will email you the instructions for “3. Payment of the Remaining Vehicle Balance” within 2 business days. Please note that fund transfers may take up to 48 hours to be processed and confirmed.

3. Payment of the Remaining Vehicle Balance

After confirming receipt of your deposit payment, please transfer the remaining vehicle balance before the handover. Once this payment has been confirmed, we will proceed with the necessary preparations for delivery.

  • ”A remaining balance invoice” will be sent to you by email within two business days following the confirmation of your deposit payment.
  • Payment must be made by bank transfer only. *Cash or credit card payments are not accepted.
  • No documents are required from you at this stage.

Information

Exceeding the payment deadline may affect your vehicle delivery schedule. We will contact you to confirm once your payment has been received.

Next Step

After confirming your payment, we will email you the instructions for “4. Contract & Delivery” within two business days. Please be aware that it may take up to 48 hours for the funds to be processed and confirmed.

4. Contract & Delivery

Following the confirmation of the remaining vehicle balance payment, we will proceed with the contract signing and vehicle delivery. Upon signing the required documents, we will hand over the vehicle to you.

Items to Bring on the Day

There are no items you need to bring with you. We will prepare all necessary documents for your contract at our office on the day of delivery.

Documents Handed Over on the Day of Delivery

Used Car Sale Contract To be signed by you on the day of vehicle delivery.
Form 5 This document serves as our formal notification to the State Government (Transport for NSW) regarding the sale and disposal of the vehicle. Your signature will be required on this form on the day.
*This form will be used by you later when completing registration transfer at Service NSW.
Registration Transfer Details On the reverse side of the Certificate of Registration, both our company and the customer are required to fill in the necessary details and sign.
*The lower endorsement section on the back of the Certificate of Registration will be used by you when completing registration transfer at Service NSW later.

Next Steps

After vehicle delivery, the customer is requested to complete the “5.Registration Transfer at Service NSW” procedure within 14 days.

5. Registration Transfer at Service NSW

Following vehicle delivery, you are requested to complete the Change of Ownership procedure yourself. Please complete the transfer of ownership at Service NSW within 14 days.

Information

Please complete the procedure within 14 days of vehicle delivery. (A late fee may be incurred if the 14-day period is exceeded.) When completing registration transfer procedure, please bring the necessary documents and proof of identity.

Documents to Bring to Service NSW

Form 5 Please bring this as proof of purchase from the dealer and as confirmation of the purchase price.
Registration Transfer Details Please bring this to confirm the details of the purchased vehicle. Without it, a new Certificate of Registration in your name cannot be issued.
Proof of Identity We will confirm your identity and residential address using your NSW Driver Licence or Photo ID. If the address on your ID has not been updated, please report the change of address to Service NSW before proceeding with the change of ownership procedure.

Fees to be Paid at Service NSW*

Transfer Fee 41 AUD
Stamp Duty (Tax) 3% of the purchase price
